All the above combined with the fact that Harley Davidsons back in the day were all about being competitive when it came to weight, performance, handling, and efficiency. And at some point they just stopped innovating and competing, put on some weight, and covered everything with Chrome and a Gloss Black laquer job. Harleys were popular even before the war because they were innovative original designs that always tried to be lighter, faster, and more fun to ride. At some point, they just became a very dated caricature of that. Just slow, heavy, brand signalling. That's fine for the older Harley Rider who just likes to ride to the bar on weekends, or the newer rider that wants to join the club. But people that really love riding want more. That's not to say that Harleys might not be the perfect choice for SOME people. But they no longer deserve to be the first in line, and the most commonly thought of. Chances are if you are a new rider actually interested in riding and not rocking, Harleys are probably not the best choice for 85% of people. Whether they realize it or not. End of Story. Databyter

I've been riding big cc bikes since 1980, they didn't really have all this new so called safety gear, if it's hot (& it can get above 40 degrees C, here) so I ride with just a t-shirt In summer, my best advice for safety......don't fall off, I've been road legal on a bike since 78, & never had a fall, secret is treat every single other road user as if they are out to kill you !

I bought a 2020 tw200. Best thing I’ve ever done. I’ve been a 2 stroker for 30 yrs. riding my 125 and 250 at the track every week, and now I’ve got a tractor. I can ride from my house here in chilliwack bc and ride endless trails right from my doorstep. The tw 200. Most excellent choice for beginner or vet master like my self. Great video!! Great channel. Come out to chilliwack sometime 👍

Icelanders use the technique to inflate flat big foot tires using lighter fluid but after setting the bead they ad compressed air, so this might work if you add compressed air or co2 right after setting the bead .

I learnt to drive a car BEFORE a motorcycle, here's what I learnt about both sides: Driving a car: - Motorcyclists can feel fucking invisible and come out of nowhere sometimes. In the few seconds between normal mirror checks, even driving straight on the road, a motorcycle can come out of nowhere from behind the blindspot of an other car or something. - Operating a car can be much more difficult in terms of managing the space it takes up. You have a big wide vehicle to manoeuvre, so you're constantly trying to know where all the corners / wheels of your vehicle are on narrow roads. A motorcycle is far more easy to manage in this respect. I find it FAR easier to know my surroundings on a bike. - The first time i rode a bike, I was in awe at how easy the clutch, gears, etc are. It's a whole other ball game with a car (assuming it's manual).. So in normal city driving, you're managing a lot more in a car, you have less time to be doing checks etc. Took me no time at all to get to grips with safe braking, rev-matching, etc.. but in a car? Heal-toe rev-match downshifts? It takes a LIFETIME and I'm convinced my ankles hate bending that way. - If you drive a sports car you DEFINITELY have a tough time with visibility and are being super vigilant about where your wheels are, because you're very low and the windows are high. So you're adding more things to focus on. Riding a bike: - Cars are often idiots. You should always always check just one more time, always, for motorcycles. I learnt this at a junction when i checked both ways and JUST before i set off (in a car), there was a bike suddenly out of nowhere just as i was about to engage the clutch. Always triple check. - Riding a bike, you're VERY vulnerable. Obvious one. treat driving near them like they're made of glass. - Everything is a full body experience, you're one with the bike. Moving, swerving, stopping, even making adjustments.. They all involve split second mental calculations and require feel, experience, and so-on. In a car, you're effortlessly moving a steering wheel... In a bike you're physically leaning something that could be anywhere between 2 and 4 times heavier than you. You simply cannot change direction as quickly as a car. - If a car loses front grip, you might lose cornering but ABS mostly prevents that anyway. If a bike loses front grip you're face-planting and lose ALL stopping ability. Even when i only drove a car, I had absolutely ZERO forgiveness for anyone stupid enough to be on their phone or distracted. some of us really like cars, and are equally as pissed off as riders when we see that shit. it gives us CAR people a fucking bad rep. You're likely NOT a car enthusiast just because drive a car, but you probably ARE a bike enthusiast if you ride one. So us that have an appreciation for good driving get lumped with the shitheads that endanger people. Especially people who drive like shit in a shitty laid back, automatic, fake SUV thing (often german) that would shit itself off road...

I've owned three Heritage classics and toured the US extensively on two of them. The heat coming straight up from the engine while cruising in hot weather is nuts and the key element in riding long runs is to figure out what speed in fifth gear gives the rear view mirrors the least vibration. If I had any sense I would have done all the touring on a Gold Wing but I bought into the Harley BS and poured a considerable amount of money into the act.

The elephant in the room is the blinded by the light old lady careening...blindly toward you in your lane. This whole headlight fiasco by car manufacturers to stand out from the crowd is becoming dangerous. It needs to be reigned in and regulated. Some headlights are particularly dazzling, Acura’s for example, and that’s an observation shared by a lot of people.

I agree lots of wrong choices over the years, but i must say, bought my first Harley 2 years ago, great dealer over in the UK that help, did me a deal i was happy with and absolutely love the bike. This is not me saying HONDA GW are not great, i know they are and there is many triumphs and BMW's that are also great bikes, i just wanted a Harley, like the Harley end of story. No matter what you ride, enjoy it and ride safe.

Ryan, can you tell us about the fuel RON (or other octane measures) vs compression ratio. Almost all people tell higher compression ratio needs higher RON, yes. But none of them specify which is let's say RON 88 is good for compression ratio range xx to xx, RON 90, RON 92, and so on. Thank you for covering this topic.

Pretty spot on! As one who gets fired up but also has riden motorcycle most of my life, getting angry at auto drivers is useless. I just look at them as obstacles. They do what they do. Just expect it. stay out of their blind spots. Watch their every move. If the turn into you brake suddenly or excellerate to get around and stay away from them. City riding has taught me this.
